Art

Portraits

For art this half-term we were going to be looking at portraits.

I have attached a video with a step by step guide to drawing the human face with the correct proportions. I know that many of our year five students are able to draw faces using animated proportions, so it is important for them to pay careful attention to how artists in videos create more lifelike images rather than anime drawings. Both are valid art styles, but we want to focus on real life at the moment.

Artists who find this rather easily may want to look at some other videos for perfecting the different features of the face such as eyes and hair.

Those who are struggling shouldn't give up. Drawing is just like any other skill. No one is able to dribble a football their very first time, it takes practise and time to learn to dribble a ball confidently. The same with drawing, practise makes perfect.
