Year 5

World Book Day: March 5th

Shared Reading in Year 2

This half-term, year five is studying Beowulf which is all about a monster. To get our creative juices flowing, we researched monsters during the holiday and created our very own monster masks!

Year five has been investigating square and cubed number, discovering that square numbers grow quickly but cubed numbers grow even faster!

It took 1 block to create 13, 8 blocks to create 23, and a whopping 729 blocks to create 93. We didn't have enough blocks to continue to 103 which would have equalled 1000 blocks!

Year five children travelled to Valence House this Autumn to experience what life would have smelt like as a Victorian living in Barking! They were able to take their newfound knowledge of Victorian Barking to write newspaper articles about what life would have been like.
