Reception did junk modelling using cutting, tearing, gluing and joining techniques to make sculptures of animals.
This links to our ‘Growing’ topic where we have been learning about lots of different types of animals, and have had lots of fun learning various facts about them.
Our main text was ‘The Ugly Duckling’ who felt lonely and sad. In our Circle time sessions, we talked about ‘Resilience’ and the children learned that sometimes sad things happen as we grow, but we bounce back, with the help of our friends, families and teachers.
The children had to collaborate and work together in different ways:
RMI worked in pairs, RDC & RDI worked in small groups and RTK worked as a whole class to produce one sculpture. They had to listen to each other’s ideas about how to make their animal sculptures.
