Science

Intent

At Ripple Primary School, our intent is to cultivate a deep-rooted curiosity and enthusiasm for science among all our students. We believe in the importance of developing a strong foundation in scientific knowledge and skills that will enable our students to understand and engage with the world around them. Our science curriculum is designed to be inclusive, inspiring, and aligned with national standards, ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed and develop a lifelong love for science.

Through our dedicated and comprehensive approach to science education, we aim to inspire our students and equip them with the knowledge, skills, and curiosity necessary to navigate and contribute to an increasingly scientific and technological world.

The 2014 national curriculum for science aims to ensure that all pupils:

● develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics

● develop understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them

● are equipped with the scientific skills required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future. We understand that it is important for lessons to have a skills-based focus, and that the knowledge can be taught through this.
