Our Year 4 students have joined the Schools to Market program, where they will explore the fascinating food journey from farm to market. In partnership with Whole Kids, this initiative is a comprehensive food education program that guides children and young people through each step of the food production process. As part of the program, students will plant crops in our school garden alongside experienced gardeners, getting hands-on experience in the initial stages of food cultivation. They will then harvest the fresh produce and prepare for Market Day, where they'll apply their marketing and sales skills, completing the journey from farm to consumer. The sessions emphasise several key areas: - Connecting children with nature, helping them understand that food originates in the soil—not the supermarket. - Inspiring creativity in the kitchen and showcasing practical cooking skills. - Equipping children and young people with essential business and communication skills.
