Intent

At Ripple the French curriculum provides our students with a comprehensive and immersive learning experience that equips pupils with the skills and knowledge needed to become confident and proficient French speakers. By integrating various teaching methods and resources we aim to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment that motivates our students to excel in their language studies. Our ultimate goal is to prepare our students for real-world communication and cultural understanding in the French speaking world.

At Ripple, our goal is to embrace and celebrate our achievements, differences and the cultural diversity within our school community. By offering foreign language instruction, we aim to highlight the value of linguistic diversity and promote a deeper understanding of other cultures. 

To ensure that all teachers feel confident in teaching French we have implemented Kapow Primary’s French scheme of work. This comprehensive program is designated to foster a love for language learning and cultivate an appreciation for different cultures, aligning with our school’s mission statement.

Our objective is to empower students to effectively communicate in French for practical purposes, both orally and in writing. By building a strong foundation in language learning, we hope to inspire students to explore additional languages, enhance their understanding of the English language, and create opportunities for further study and career prospects in an international setting. 

Kapow Primary’s French curriculum is structured to support students in meeting the national curriculum standards for KS2. While KS1 does not have specific language attainment targets, our EYFS and KS1 classes are exposed to French through songs, basic greetings and visual displays.

Additionally, we have dedicated subject specialist teachers for Lower Key Stage 2 and Upper Key Stage 2 French lessons. All classroom teachers are equipped to teach these lessons effectively by utilising the detailed lesson plans and instructional videos provided by Kapow. Through this approach, we strive to ensure that all students receive a comprehensive and engaging French language education at Ripple.
